 Explanation: What this quote is explaining is that you can say whatever you want because you have the freedom to do so. He uses two plus two makes four as a reference to how it makes sense for you to have freedom.

 Explanation: What Winston was explaining is that if the old man was treated fairly back in the day and if he had freedom. He asked if he was treated equally like the rest of the people during his time,  also how he dealt with rich people that were on a higher level then him.

 Quote 3: I only gave my wrist a bit of a bang. Thanks, comrade ( page 89)

 Explanation: Winston saw a girl who fell and hurt her bandaged arm and asked if she was okay. She explained to him that it wasn't a major injury and that she will be fine in a few seconds.
