Book Three 4-6

Quote 1: "He dreamed a great deal all through this time, and they were always happy dreams." Explanation: Thoughtcrime is probably the worst thing someone can do against the party. The peoples mind in Oceania are controlled and in charge from the party. This shows that if you even try to think of something they don't want you to think about they will vaporize. Quote 2: "It was a swimming against the current that swept you backwards however hard you struggled, and then suddenly deciding to turn around and go with the current instead of opposing it." Explanation: Winston gave into the party's wishes. It was easier for Winston to give in rather than fighting and getting executed. He trusted the party and gave his life over for them to decide his fate. Quote 3:" His mind grew more active, he sat down on the plank bed, his back against the wall and the slate on his kneed, and set to work deliberately at the task of re-educating himself." (276)  ...

Book Three: 1-3

Quote 1: " 6079 Smith W! Uncover your face. No faces covered in the cells." Explanation:  This quote explains how the party is watching all the prisoners and to see if they aren't breaking any rules. They don't let Winston cover his face because they want to see all his facial expressions.His expressions will show to see if he is committing facecrime. Quote 2 :  "  I told you everything already? What else is it you want to know? There's nothing I wouldn't confess, nothing! Just tell me wheat it is and ill confess it straight off. Write it down and ill sign it--anything! Not Room 101" Explanation:  This quote explains how Winston was caught and was sent to detention. He starts to notice a phase that he knew was going to happen. Room 101 doesn't kill the criminals but does torture them to a high extent. Winston doesn't know what the party does to people who are caught committing crimes so he just thinks about what can possibly happe...

Book 2 Chapters 7-10

Quote 1:   " War, it will be seen, not only accomplishes the necessary destruction, but accomplishes it in a psychologically acceptable way". ( page 158) Explanation: This quote explains that war is seen more than destruction. It shows how war is also affected people in a way where they were accepting the war like Winston. Quote 2:  " The party owns everything in Oceania, because it controls everything and disposes of the products as it thinks fit." ( Page 170) Explanation: This quote I chose explains how the party is the second to highest in the pyramid behind Big Brother. The party rules Oceania,they make the policies, and the decisions. Even though they have a lot of power Big Brother is still in charge of them but the party still owns Oceania. Quote 3: " At the apex of the pyramid comes Big Brother.
