Explanation: Thoughtcrime is probably the worst thing someone can do against the party. The peoples mind in Oceania are controlled and in charge from the party. This shows that if you even try to think of something they don't want you to think about they will vaporize.

Explanation: Winston gave into the party's wishes. It was easier for Winston to give in rather than fighting and getting executed. He trusted the party and gave his life over for them to decide his fate.
